Established in 2022, the Department of Accounting and Finance at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad, connects quality education with professional practice, applied research, and national development. It prepares students with the knowledge, practical competencies, and ethical judgment required to succeed in an evolving financial environment. Building on undergraduate education in accounting, finance, and taxation, the department is broadening its academic focus towards Real Estate Investment and Finance, Entrepreneurial Finance, Forensic Accounting and Cybersecurity, and Islamic Banking and Finance. Its 29 full-time faculty members, including 17 PhD-qualified scholars, bring expertise across finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, management, and law. Professional linkages with ACCA (UK), IPA (Australia), IFA (UK), and ICPAP provide valuable exemptions and membership pathways.
The department serves approximately 900 students from across Pakistan. A survey of approximately 700 students found that 89.1% belong to poor, lower-middle-income, or middle-income households, while women represent 40% of respondents. This diverse intake reflects the department’s contribution to educational access, inclusion, and social mobility. A survey of 200 alumni found that 66.9% were employed or self-employed. Respondents reported an average of five months to secure their first job, while 70.2% reported employment fully or partially related to their degrees. These findings inform curriculum development, practical training, and career support.
Beyond teaching, the department advances research and policy dialogue through the International Conference on Real Estate (ICRE), the Pakistan Society for Real Estate Studies (PRES), and its Policy Paper Series. The NUML–Accounting & Finance Professional & SDGs Capacity Building Initiative strengthens practical competencies in sustainability, climate resilience, and community engagement. Guided by Purpose, People, and Place, the department strives to develop ethically grounded, globally competent, and future-ready professionals who contribute to resilience, equity, and sustainable development.

Welcome to the Department of Accounting and Finance at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad. Since our establishment in 2022, we have worked to build an academic community that connects quality education with professional practice, research, and national development. Our commitment is to prepare students with the knowledge, practical competencies, and ethical judgment needed to succeed in a changing financial environment.
